EXTREME CONDITIONS IN CAPE TRAILS

By STEFAN TRUEDSSON

When the cold weather is coming is usual to see some snow in Sweden, Stefan Truedsson explains us how the winter months affect his trail.

"Well, when it comes to working in winter conditions... of course the ground frost is a concern and  there’s hardly any real worth in trying to hack frozen chunks n piling ’em into jumps (even though I’ve done it a few times when I just cant stay away from wanting to create ) Up until last year I was leaving my Trails bare back with no tarping throughout the year and they always held up fine all winter but once the frozen ground thows, the surface fluffs up for a few weeks.."

"..making it really easy to groom n resurface things. Only problem is that this window is too short and..."

"..once the sun start drying things up, that nice fluff turns to brittle crust and the trails will erode, making them really sensitive to rain aswell as weeds growing, forcefully."

"Even though  CapeTrails is built on an old lake floor with almost pure clay, the peaks disintegrate fast due to weathering if not taken care of in time."

"I’ve found that tarping and tarping tight rescues our trails immensley during these critical spring months."
